Research Interests: History of US Mass Incarceration, Neoliberalism, State Power, Urban History, African American History.
Upon graduating from high school, David served six years in the US Air Force stationed in Texas, Turkey, Hawaii and North Dakota. Upon being honorably discharged from the military in the late-1980s he ultimately had a 17-year career as a prison guard with the Connecticut Department of Correction. While working with the DOC, he obtained a Bachelors Degree from UConn in 2000, and, upon retiring from the DOC, an ALM in History from Harvard University EXT in 2016. His Masters’ thesis, “What’s the Matter With Walter: the Privatization of Everything in Breaking Bad,” has been nominated for two awards at Harvard.
