Biography: Winifred Maloney graduated summa cum laude from Sacred Heart University with a B.A. in History. She received university and departmental honors, including the Gold Medal of Excellence in History. At UConn, she was awarded a Pre-Doctoral Merit Award in 2016 and 2017. Winifred is interested in nineteenth-century Connecticut orphan asylums and the children in these institutions orphaned during the Civil War. She was chosen as a fellow for the inaugural National Humanities Without Walls Pre-Doctoral Alternative Academic Career Summer Workshop for summer 2017.
