Daniela is a doctoral student in History at the University of Connecticut. Born and raised in southern Spain, she holds graduate degrees in American Literature and American Studies. Her research centers on nineteenth and twentieth century U.S. women’s history, with particular interests in gendered mobility, urban history, and the policing of women’s leisure and pleasure in public spaces. Her most recent research traces the intersections of Orientalism, gender, and the emerging regulation of narcotics in fin-de-siècle New York.
