Dennis M. Bench

Dennis Bench, PhD candidate, University of ConnecticutI graduated from Old Dominion University with an MA in History and Arizona State University with a BA in History.  My broad field of focus is Modern European History although I concentrate on nineteenth-century Italian social and cultural history.  My master’s thesis explored representations of Italians, both in the U.S. and in Italy, during the mid-nineteenth century prior to the era of mass migrations beginning in the last quarter of the century.  I am interested in themes of nationalism, revolution, gender, and identity, particularly as they relate to the Italian Risorgimento.  My advisor is John A. Davis.
