Current Research Interests 

Catalina Paz Vasquez Marchant is a doctoral student on Latin American history with a focus on environmental and urban history. Her research experience has focused mostly in late twentieth century in Chile, where she is originally from.

She hopes to develop and continue the guidelines of her master’s thesis titled “Ciudad, Naturaleza y Estado: Una Ecología Política de Santiago en Tres Desastres Socionaturales (1982-1997)”. Her current research is focused principally on natural disasters and the role of the Chilean state in their management, during the last three decades of the twentieth century.
